Run, Bike or Just Do Whatever You Like

Image
This is the game plan for this weekend. Friday Night: Futsal match with fellow SDARA '84. It will be competitive game, I can ensure that even though we call it friendly game. He he....it will not be a friendly when inter-batch bragging rights are at stake plus a challenge trophy to grab! Saturday: to rest for running event on Sunday, but of course that will include normal and usual Saturday duties. Kids have co-curriculum activities in the morning and tuitions in the afternoon. Also need to go to pasar tani to buy usual stuffs. Sunday: I have to choose between running for 14.5km somewhere in Puncak Alam in the Dragon Back Run 2013, or to participate in the 48km Challenge Category in the middle of Kuala Lumpur in the OCBC Ride 2013. I am choosing to do the Dragon Back Run, because of the challenge it provides. Not often you will get the opportunity to tackle the hills of the famous dragon back route on foot. I have tackled the route on my bike before and the sight of the ...

Anyone Game for a Run?

Image
Any body game for a run? When? Tomorrow (morning of course). Where? DUKE (Duta Ulu Kelang Expressway). Distance? 5KM. InshaAllah I will be participating in the Dukethon event tomorrow - just for fun. This will be my second time participating in a run after the 10KM event during the KL Marathon earlier this year. Just like before, this is just suka-suka and for personal satisfaction. No way I am going to compete with those serious runners. Come and join the fun. There are many other interesting activities besides the 5KM run. Wish me luck!

Update

Thank you for your kind wishes and encouragement, I managed to finish the paper and emailed it to the organiser at about 8.30PM on Saturday. Yup....spent the whole of Saturday in office. :( The presentation by my Boss went out well yesterday. P/s: actually my colleagues and I were betting whether my Boss will be presenting the paper or he would just ask me to take his place since I did all the preparation. Well the possibility was there - and it had happened before. Needless to say, the guys owed dinner now.

My shoes....gone!

This morning, I saw a shoe (was it left or right side?) lying in front of my gate when I was going out to send the girls to school. My thought was, "....budak mana la punya kasut ni". It was an 'Admiral' jogging shoe. Came back from sending the girls, I had a quick bite of toasted bread and ready to send Akmal to his Sekolah Agama. Meanwhile, Kak Chik was all set and ready. Yes, I has a date with my daughter this morning - we had earlier planned to go for jogging around the neighbourhood today. (Kak Chik's school was closed for three days from Monday because 2 students were down with hand, foot and mouth (HFM) disease). Only when I came back from sending Akmal, I realised that my jogging shoes were not at the place where I left them yesterday. Oh no....! And when I checked in the shoe closet - I was surprised, not only my new Nike jogging shoes were not there; my 2 pairs of futsal shoes were also gone. Cisss,.....tak guna betul punya pencuri. Sakit h...

KL Marathon 2009

So what happened last Sunday the 28th? The run went out well I would say. I wish I could have put up an entry much earlier; but I was caught up in terrible deadlines in the last few days. Let the pictures do the talking. The participants were asked to collect their Race Pack on Friday and Saturday. I went to collect it on Friday (26th June) itself since I would be sending my niece to UiTM on Saturday. There were long lines divided into each race category. The lady with a tattoo on her arm was in the queue next to my line. Hope to see her again during the race. :) This is the Race Pack. It contains the running bib and another smaller bib to be attached to the bag on race day. There's a complimentary event T-Shirt inside. But I didn't wear it on the race day because......I bought a new running shirt specially for the event!. Baru la semangat. Heh he he...gaya mesti mau. Penting tu..... It's a Nike dry fit made of thin fabric that is supposed to ensu...

Wishes, Resolution & Target

What are the differences between wishes, resolution and target? To my mind, they are all almost carry the same meaning. It just that for me wishes could be very wide and may even include something that you could never achieve or something that you dream to achieve. Resolution and target to my mind has the connotation of achievability - in the sense that you make a resolution or you set your target and you work towards achieving them. Normally, you would make resolution or set target on something that is challenging enough but at the same time, achievable based on your assessment of your ownself and your ability. I have many things I want to do in my life; whether at personal level, self improvement level, career etc. But specifically when it comes to outdoor activities, I could list below are the things that I really want to do: (1) to conquer Mont Kinabalu (2) to run a marathon (3) to do a bungee jumping I have climbed may mountains during my student days at the ...

I did a 50.6 km ride this morning. With some friends, we cycled from Bt. 18 in Hulu Langat to Nuang and back. Then from Bt. 18 to the junction to Kuala Kelawang/Tekala Dam. Instead of going to Tekala waterfall as we had earlier planned, we decided to climb up the hills to Genting Peras (most of us call Genting Perez) which is situated at the border of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. It has been a long while since my last long distance ride. For the last few months I have been regularly cycling up the Genting Sempah trail from Hospital Orang Asli in Gombak. The whole trip will be about 32km; about one hour of climbing and another 15 - 20 minutes going down hill. This morning's ride was a big test to my mental strength. I was contemplating of racing back down hill many many times during the climb. It was not my first time climbing up Perez; but the mental block was too much for me to push myself. Finally I just gave up with about another 50 - 80 meters to the summit. (isk...isk...

Updates

Image
Updates I know I have not been updating my blog as frequent as I wish. Same old reasons... sibuk, busy , tersangat la busy bla bla bla... But that does not stop me from checking out my own blog. I still have the urge to click on my blog after having visited some of my favourite blogs in my bookmarks tab. Not sure whether it's funny or crazy or some kind of addiction or blog withdrawal syndrome or something....   New Passport Finally I managed to squeeze my time and went to Immigration office to renew my passport. My passport died, I mean expired since June 2007. Ini pun terpaksa. Work commitments requires me to travel. The last time that I went out of the country was during the month of Ramadhan, in year 2005 - when I went to Saudi to do my umrah . And in order to ensure that I will not be stopped by the immigration at the exit gate, I have to part with a sum of more than RM29,000.00 to pay my outstanding income tax to the Government. See.....I am a law abidin...

Sleepdialing

Yes, this is a long overdue update. In fact I didn't plan to put up any new entry until Hari Raya Haji. I did have that plan. Malas, penat dan berbagai lagi alasan. My mind is to bogged down and occupied with works that I didn't even want to try to string a sentence. So I planned that I will wish you all selamat hari raya haji before the weekend comes. My life has turned upside down with works and crazy deadlines. Nothing new. There are few big important assignments that I am currently working on concurrently. Talking about prioritising my works, I even now have new categories for deadlines; tight deadline, crazy deadline and DROP DEAD deadline. I didn't have the time to reply to the special request from Ayoh Keng on his entry on Riba . Heh he heh....Ayoh Keng even called to remind me to reply to his entry and to update my blog. The truth is.....and you have heard this before, I am too busy with my works. It's a good thing that when other people are complaining about s...

Al Fatihah

My eldest brother sent an SMS reminding me that tomorrow will mark the 17th year of the demise of my/our beloved Father. Again, I thanked him for the kind reminder. He has been dilligent in reminding us all siblings about these important dates. (Read my earlier entry here ). InshaAllah, I will never forget that date. Al Fatihah to Almarhum Ismail bin Ibrahim, ayahanda tercinta. Semoga Ayahanda ditempatkan dikalangan orang-orang yang soleh. Amin. ********************** I wanted to blog about this much earlier but just could not find the time. In the morning of 14th of November I received an SMS from a colleague that a closed friend of mine has lost his father earlier that morning. The message said the body would be brought to the nearby mosque for prayer at 11AM and thereafter to to buried somewhere at Tanah Perkuburan Taman Ibu Kota. I was actually drowned with works at that time but after a long thought and some soul searching, instead of sending condolence message to my friend and co...

Sixteen Years Ago

Received SMS from my eldest brother in the morning when I was in a meeting, Salam....Ptg ni genap 16 tahun bonda pulang ke rahmatullah - AL FATIHAH... Emmm, sedar tak sedar dah masuk 16 tahun arwah Ibu meninggalkan Aku. I mentioned about her demise in my earlier Mother's Day entry . Just brief. That's it. *************** I just thanked my brother for the kind reminder but the truth is, I never forget the date, the time, the circumstances and every thing that took place on that day, on that very moment. Where I was seated. I was holding her hand. Mum's head was on my eldest brother's lap. My late second brother was whispering at her right ear.... Allahu Akbar....Allahu Akbar.....Allahu Akbar... .slowly and continuously. Other siblings were all gathered around her. Tears were streaming on everybody's cheeks, but we tried not to cry. No I didn't cry. Just like I didn't shed a single tear when Ayah died. We knew that her time has come. We knew that we have to l...

Pakcik Kayoooooooo

How do you feel if you unexpectedly found some crispy new notes in your drawer? Oooh yeah, I was sifting through old cheque books (cheque butts?), pictures, receipts etc etc in my drawer in the office this afternoon when I saw a worn out white office envelope. Guess what inside the envelope? Haha hah ha......Pak cik Kayo, yeay!. There were 12 pieces of rm100 notes and seven pieces of rm5 notes. All notes are serially numbered. The rm5 notes are actually in green RHB hari raya packets!. Must have been the money I reserved for hari raya. But which year of hari raya? I just couldn't recall when and why I actually left the money there in the first place. Well doesn't matter what. I am rm1,235 richer today. Hah hah hah. Jangan marah ye, I'm singing hari raya tune now. La lala la la...

Starting All Over Again

Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah wa Syukurillah. Thank you Allah for giving me courage to make the commitment . Thank you Allah for giving me time and strength to complete the task. I will be starting all over again and I hope I could finish the Book by this coming Ramadhan.

Currently listening to...

At the moment, I am listening to the songs from the album someone by the name of Aunur Rofiq Lil Firdaus. Who? Aunur? Rofiq? Who? Thanks to the great review by Bro. Jiwa , I was pleasantly surprised when I accidentally found the CD by OPICK - titled 'Istighfar'. I was browsing through the CD titles at SOGO one day and saw the latest collection by M Nasir. I was about to proceed to purchase M. Nasir's CD when I saw OPICK's album. Took quite a while to decide which one to buy. Decided M. Nasir could wait. I think I made the right choice. The CD has been my companion while I am driving for the last 4 weeks. The songs are very soothing and at the same time, inspiring. The final track of the album, titled ' Tombo Ati ' is my favourite. I even thought it was a Spanish song the first time I heard the song. Another great song is the one that repeats the following verses, Ya Rabbana Rabbana Rabbana Ya Rabbana Dzolamna Anfusana Wa Illam taghfirlana wa tarhamna La naku ...

Mental Blogging

I have to apologize the very few kind visitors who may have hopped in and found no new updates. Sorry lah ya. It's not that I was totally out of the blogsphere. I still blogged.....but only in my head. Just like the case when you are making mental notes of what you want to do, I was doing mental blogging almost every day since my last entry in early March. Most of the time, I compose my entry while I was driving to office or when I was taking shower at home. Sometimes I managed to compose one or two paragraphs or may be just one or two sentences. The only difference was instead of typing and post the entries at blogger, I posted the 'entries' in my head. So when there were so many entries were left to accumulate in my head, it may have affected the running of the cpu in my head a bit. May be it got me carried away a bit. Being in the state of blogging but yet not blogging kind of feeling. Until yesterday. Yes I was caught in the traffic jam so bad that I decided to blog via...

Oooops! I did it again....!

Yess, I did it again. **smack on the forehead** I have tight schedules today so this morning I after the normal salam, kiss kiss and love you(s) with the kids and wife, I rushed out of the house to beat the traffic. Didn't even have time to eat anything on the breakfast table. Need to rush to the office, get some documents printed then rush to meetings. One at 9.00 and another at 10.00 in the morning. Another two meetings scheduled after the Friday prayer. Nothing else was in my head. Very focussed with the plannings in my head. Print the documents, rush to the first meeting, fifteen minutes before 10.00 a.m. I would ask to be excused, then to rush for the second meeting which would probably last until 12.30 at noon, get a quick bite then rush for prayer. After that, to rush for the third meeting and finally back to the office for the last meeting. Then while I was about to leave office for the first meeting, this SMS came in, Happy 10th A'vsary. Luv u so much. [8.52 AM] Alamaa...

Stress Stressful Stressed and Stressed Out

Stress, Stressful, Stressed and Stressed Out (dan segala yang sewaktu dengannya). I think that pretty well summed up the current state of my mind. It's all about work, work, work and WORK. Since the internal rationalisation, my workload and my responsibilities have increased three-folds. And the pressure at work is tremendous. Even my wife said that I looked stressed every time I come back home. Well, who wouldn't? But don't ask me to quit and find other job. I don't think I am goood at doing anything else. I still like this 'lawyering' works - despite all the occupational hazards it may have.I still like the challenge of exploring new boundaries, doing something that may not have been done before etc. etc. So I am looking forward to this coming short CNY break. I really need it. Happy New Year to any of my kind visitors who celebrate the new lunar year. For those who will hit the road, please take extra care. InshaAllah I will be in Port Dickson with the family...

A Surprise That Never Was

I came back to office from a meeting at about 8.00 p.m. on Wednesday the last day of January and was greeted with this message in my mailbox: En. S, Happy birthday. Kita orang ingat nak surprise En S dengan birthday cake hari ni, tapi dah pukul 6 lebih En S tak balik2 lagi dari meeting. Kita orang tak leh tunggu. Happy Birthday. Jangan lupa bawak balik kek kat dalam bilik En. F. I felt sorry to the staffs of my department who took all the troubles to plan for the surprise. But it was really, really pack and hectic day that day - and the next two days thereafter. I was one year older on 31st January (Wednesday), next day (1st February) went to Batu Pahat and spent the whole day in Senggarang distributing donations to flood victims only to reach home at almost midnight. Later at about 1.40 a.m. (Friday, 2nd February) I got a call from kampung that my 2nd eldest brother finally lost his battle with the big C. Immediately woke up the kids and drove back to Kelantan. It was a very physical...
