2011 Already?

Are we alredy in 2011? Damn, how fast time flies. Today my accounts staff would probably ask me to sign the cheques to pay for the staffs' January's salarie. I was early to office this morning. By 8.00AM I was already parked my car at the basement when my wife called. "Abang tak bawak beg ofis?" "Hah?" And only then I realised, in my haste to reach office early, I forgot to bring my laptop knapsack. Arrghh....what was in my mind this morning? And this is only my first entry of the year. Under the Dome

Image
For the last two weeks, the Treasury office at the Ministry of Finance was like my second office. I would be there from morning for meeting (long ardous and boring meeting, I must add) that would ended well after maghrib. Even Sunday was not spared. After the meeting, I would usually go back to office to attend to consequential updates of documents or providing comments on new documents received from external legal counsel from different part of the globe working in different time zones. It's really really hectic. Hope the deal will be completed according to the timeline, as I really really need a breather. This picture was taken when I went to Putrajaya mosque for friday prayer last week. I just discovered that there was a walking path underneath the bridge from the Ministry of Finance to the mosque. I could walk straight up to the Souq and then to the mosque. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Flying off

Image
Latte anyone? I need all the caffeine that I could get while trying to finish my presentation materials for a workshop on Monday. Flying off to the other side of the world tomorrow nite. The whole of tomorrow is to run some errands and last minute packing. Never thought that one day I will be in London presenting a paper related to Islamic finance. Will be back by Friday, InshaAllah. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Extremely Stressed Out

Currently I am under extreme pressure to complete and deliver documents to clients. So stressed out!!! This is not good. My hectic schedules from last year continued to this year without any break. In fact I could not even take a day off during the recent school holiday break. This is certainly not good. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Update

Thank you for your kind wishes and encouragement, I managed to finish the paper and emailed it to the organiser at about 8.30PM on Saturday. Yup....spent the whole of Saturday in office. :( The presentation by my Boss went out well yesterday. P/s: actually my colleagues and I were betting whether my Boss will be presenting the paper or he would just ask me to take his place since I did all the preparation. Well the possibility was there - and it had happened before. Needless to say, the guys owed dinner now.

Teh Tarik anyone....?

Image
Anybody game for a teh tarik session? Hah ha ha...the blog owner is actually under extreme pressure to complete a presentation paper to be presented this coming Monday (2nd November 2009). It is already late. The deadline was last week. My Managing Partner (a.k.a. my boss) just informed me about it and requested my help to prepare the paper for him. Aiyoo...and it's not normal power point slide presentations. The format of the programme is that the presenter will first present his (research) paper on certain issues given to him and his paper will be discussed (and commented) by 2 discussants. The paper that I am preparing will be on legal issues affecting Islamic Finance and to be discussed by none other that the former Chief Justice (mantan Ketua Hakim Negara)!. Mati la gue....cannot cincai-cincai one. Worst, the paper will have to be in Malay!!!. Adoyai....susah la cam ni - because my mother's tongue is.............French! :)

Stress Stressful Stressed and Stressed Out

Stress, Stressful, Stressed and Stressed Out (dan segala yang sewaktu dengannya). I think that pretty well summed up the current state of my mind. It's all about work, work, work and WORK. Since the internal rationalisation, my workload and my responsibilities have increased three-folds. And the pressure at work is tremendous. Even my wife said that I looked stressed every time I come back home. Well, who wouldn't? But don't ask me to quit and find other job. I don't think I am goood at doing anything else. I still like this 'lawyering' works - despite all the occupational hazards it may have.I still like the challenge of exploring new boundaries, doing something that may not have been done before etc. etc. So I am looking forward to this coming short CNY break. I really need it. Happy New Year to any of my kind visitors who celebrate the new lunar year. For those who will hit the road, please take extra care. InshaAllah I will be in Port Dickson with the family...
