Mission Impossible

What: Thomas Cup semi final Where: Putra Stadium, KL. It's not easy to bring down the China wall. Best of luck to the Malaysian fighters. May the force be with you. The Malaysian team must show that Impossible is Nothing. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Congrats

Congratulations to Malaysian Football team for winning the gold medal at the SEA Games in Vientiane in Vietnam yesterday. The team finally ended 20-year old drought. The last time we won the gold medal was in 1989. But while we are so happy with the football team's achievement, we must not forget that the women badminton team should also receive the same accolades and praises, if not more. Our female badminton team won the gold medals in the team event for the first time in 34 years!! Yes, thirty four years. No kidding!. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Indonesian Open

Chong Wei won! Chong Wei has just defeated Taufik Hidayat 21-9 and 21-14. It was a daunting task to achieve that feat in front of the home crowd at Istora Senayan. Sent from my iPhone

Indonesian Open 2009

Yesss! For the first time ever, our women pair won the Indonesian Open crown. They defeated the Chinese pair in straight games 21-16 and 21-16. Congratulations to Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui. They are currently the world's number one pair; but may be less in the limelights because they didn't win the major tournaments so far. Lee Chong Wei will be up against local favourite, Taufik Hidayat next. Let's pray hard Chong Wei will be able to pull it off this time to make a great outing for the Malaysian team. Super Dan

It's all over in 39 minutes. I hoped it could have been better and more equally matched. But what do you expect when Lin Dan played a near perfect game. I think Chong Wei's face looked pale and lost. He has no answer to Lin Dan's pinpoint cross court smashes and quick kills. I think Chong Wei is too kind-faced. We need to have someone with fearless face. Someone like Markus Kido of the Indonesian's double player. I was very frustrated with the results.

All the Wei

Yes! All the way to the final. Lee Chong Wei just won his semi final badminton match against Lee Hyun-il of Korea in rubber games a moment ago. He will face the winner of super Lin Dan and Chen Jin in another semi final match. Chong Wei is our best bet for our very first Olympic gold medal.

GROUNDED

GROUNDED. Yes. That's the sports headline of today's STAR on the national badminton doubles of Koo Kien Keat - Tan Boon Heong. After their illustrious win at All England followed by another win at Swiss Open my worst fear was that their sudden raise to fame and glamour would get into their heads. They had earlier won the Asiad doubles title in Doha. Well you could see their performance took a nose dive after that. They lost to our veteran pairs at the Malaysian Open followed by another uninspiring performance at Singapore Open. They redeemed themselves at the Indonesian Open. But they are no longer the same pairs. They seemed to have lost focus. They seemed to play to the gallery. They are going down the same path as Hafiz Hashim. Another promising 'star' that was truly wasted. I watched them played against denmark for fifth placing of Sudirman Cup last night. They won but there's nothing great about their performance. They won over an ageing pairs from Denmark. Oh...
