Thursday (Batik Day)

Today is Thursday. It has been a week since my last posting.

Are you wearing batik today?

Yes?

Me? NOOOOO.

I'm probably the last person on this earth to wear a batik shirt. I don't know why.

For me, BATIK = BELIA 4B = TOO FORMAL = BORING

I know there are lots of new interesting designs even for guys. But still I could not get over with the above equation.

Bayangkan, pergi ofis pakai batik, lepas waktu pejabat jumpa client/lepak kat DOME KLCC sampai malam pun pakai batik.....wooo, tak tercapai akal ku!

Bayangkan, pergi ofis pakai batik, aircond kat opis sejuk gila, nak pakai blazer atau jacket over the batik shirt......ishhh, tak masyukk langsung! Terasa macam akak-akak kat kaunter opis gomen yang pakai baju kurung dan pakai blazer sebab sejuk. Ahhh rela aku mati kesejukkan.

For your information, I only have one (yes only one) batik shirt. I bought that shirt long time ago, may be even before the year 2000. That was when one evening my boss dragged me to attend a dinner hosted by Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Trengganu at Renaissance Hotel and the guest of honour was our current DYMM Agong (he was the regent of Trengganu then). When my boss invited (instructed!) me to join him for the dinner, it was about 6.30PM. I was like....how to go? I have no batik shirt? My boss said, just go downstairs and buy one lah. I had to rush to Bangunan MARA and grabbed one.

I don't see the need to buy a new one. First because I rarely wear batik; second, because the batik shirt that I have still fit my body (Ahem, there is no significant change/expansion at the waistline, tummy and other areas, okay).

Normally, if there is any invitation or function or that give me choice to wear lounge suit/office attire or batik, I will choose lounge suit/office attire. If the dress code is to wear batik only, I choose not to go - unless........ishk ishk.....I really really have no choice but to go (kes kena paksa kat big boss lah tu).

So that's my story for this Batik Day.

P/s: Thinking back about the dinner, I couldn't recall why I should be there. I am from Kelantan and my boss is from Negeri Sembilan.

kak teh pakai baju batik yang dibeli di pasar payang, kuala terengganu. It is maroon - one of ten in different colours - so boleh cover sepuluh minggu. Tu tak kira batik kaftan lagi...

Salam,

Saya pun entah kenapa tak suka pakai baju corak batik. Tapi yang design eksklusif tu suka ... tapi mahalnya tak mampu nak beli!
CikRampai: batik eksklusif memang cantik. Tapi saya masih belum ada kekuatan untuk memakai batik semacam bapak menteri KeKKWa kita.
