'Ba, Meja orang Kelantan cakap apa? Kerusi?

Those were the dialogues that filled my house ever since the kids came back from their short holiday back home in Pasir Mas during the recent school holiday break. Yes, they were so fascinated with their cousin's Kelantanspeak. Their father's tounge. And most of the times, I just listened from afar with Wife and tried hard not to laught it out. Once in a while they would turn to me for assurance whether they said it correctly.

Or I have to be the "kamke" (as in 'come' + 'care') to determine who got it right and who got it wrong when the debates amongst the siblings got a little bit too heated.

I am very glad. At least they do not forget their roots or their father's root to be more specific.

And my kids are also into dikir barat.It started when they took interest in Dikir Zikir by Raihan and then later when a friend of mine gave me this full song dikir barat ringtone by Halim Yazid.

Later in June this year, my kids repartoire of dikir barat songs impoved by leaps and bound when my brother came for a visit and left a cassette containing creative animal themed dikir barat songs. For the last few months, there was no other cassette that was played in their Mother's car on their way to school, back from school, short trip to Giant, to 7-11 etc. etc. Yes almost 24/7.

During the recent balik kampung trip, I added with a few more titles like Nyamuk, Cicak, Arbok etc. You'll be surprise how creative these people (tukang karut) are in their dikir barat songs.

In the meantime, I'm having fun of my life singing the cacthy tunes with my kids.
